Hellbreak TCG

Mechanics of a Monster

Welcome to hell, you devils! This is our first news post, but it won’t be our last. As we prepare to share more details about various aspects of the game, from organized play to card reveals, you can expect a new blog post right here in our news section!

For now, it’s time to do a deep dive on Monster Cards! Monster selection is a paramount part of the deck building process. Monster cards are double-sided cards that start each game of Hellbreak in play. These monster cards will often shape your entire deck’s strategy.

Monster cards start on their lurking side. At the end of each turn, during the Refresh Phase you may unleash your monster by flipping it.

Typically your lurking side will provide more resources, while your unleashed side will be better at fighting.

Your Monster does NOT limit your location or main deck card selection. You may freely take Jaws, “Scourge of Amity Island” to Dracula’s Castle, while your main deck is built around Headless Horsemen cards.

Jaws, Dracula, and one unannounced character will each receive two mechanically unique Monster Cards.

These will accompany the 4 characters who will receive 1 monster card, for a total of 10 mechanically unique monster cards and 7 unique characters.

Monster Cards are just one terrifying piece of the Hellbreak puzzle!

Thank you for your time, keep being awesome!
